Following the 83-year-old icon's passing on May 24, Tina Turner's husband has been spotted for the first time. Was he in hiding all the time?
In front of their home, Château Algonquin, in Küsnacht, Erwin Bach made his first public appearance on Wednesday.
He did so by laying flowers in front of a memorial for his late wife, whose decades-long career drew condolences from fans, her peers in the entertainment industry, politicians, and even monarchy.
The 67-year-old German music entrepreneur cleaned up the numerous gifts that fans had placed in front of their longtime home while wearing sunglasses and an all-black outfit.
According to Blick, a Swiss German-language publication, Bach "looked calmly and visibly moved at the gifts from the fans" while remaining silent but "drawn by grief."
The website's German translation revealed how he carefully picked up bouquets of flowers to place them with other bouquets and read cards with interest.
Turner passed away at his Kusnacht, Switzerland, residence from natural causes. According to a spokesman, a private funeral is scheduled for family members and close friends. Eight years after ending her unhappy marriage to Ike Turner, the "Proud Mary" singer began dating music producer Bach.
Turner informed her close friend Oprah Winfrey in a 2013 interview that she knew it was "love at first sight" when she first saw Bach. Bach twice asked the Grammy-winning "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" to marry him before she said yes.
The "Private Dancer" singer's second marriage took place in July 2013 at the couple's Lake Zurich residence in Kusnacht.
Turner wrote in her 2020 book "Happiness Becomes You: A Guide to Changing Your Life for Good" that Erwin, who is a force of nature in his own right, "has never been the least bit intimidated by my career, my talents, or my fame."
She discussed how she entered into their connection based on her instincts and why it was her most important partnership in the book. She said paid attention to her heart. She made it a point to get to know Erwin, so she stepped beyond of her comfort zone.
The honeymoon period did not endure long, however, as "The Best" vocalist Turner experienced major health issues including a stroke, intestinal cancer, and kidney failure.
After 27 years together, the couple were married in 2013. They first started dating in 1985. Since 1994, they have shared a home in Switzerland, where she obtained citizenship in 2013.
