Billboard reports that a producer at BET has been suspended following a controversial joke made about Beyoncé and Jay Z’s daughter Blue Ivy on the video countdown show 106 & Park. Neither the producer nor Billboard’s BET source have been identified.
The joke in question, which was read by model Karrueche Tran on the Aug. 25 episode of 106 & Park, came during a segment in which jokes were made about Blue Ivy Carter’s hypothetical thoughts during her appearance with her superstar parents at Aug. 24’s MTV Video Music Awards. “I really did wake up like this, because my parents never comb my hair,” Tran said, though she didn’t write the joke.
In response to the controversy over the joke, BET’s president of music programming and specials took to Twitter to apologize. You can read those tweets right here:

(4/4) Oh, and please don’t hate on Karrueche; it was NOT her fault. We also apologize to her for putting her in that position. — Stephen Hill (@StephenGHill) August 26, 2014
