Kevin Federline, Britney Spears' ex-husband, broke his silence after a report falsely quoted him and alleged that he disclosed the singer's addiction to crystal meth.

Concerns grew after a report, which Federline has since been tagged "fabricated" and "false," alleged that Spears had been showing erratic behavior and doing hard drugs.

Kevin Federline Slams False Report About Britney Spears

Federline formally dismissed the claims in a statement to a news outlet, expressing how his family endured a saddening experience after the report was published.

"We did allow Daphne & Bill into our home because we trusted them, but that trust was lost, and we severed ties back in March for many reasons we choose not to go into here," he told the outlet. "It is very distressing that she continues to harass our family when we have repeatedly asked her to leave us alone."

Reporter Daphne Barak of the Daily Mail wrote an article in which she reported that Spears' family members grew concerned about the singer's erratic behavior and alleged hard drug use. She claimed Federline told her how he feared Spears was on meth and how terrifying it had been.

The Daily Mail report added that the ex-couple's sons, Preston and Jayden, did not want to meet with the "Toxic" singer after reportedly seeing drugs delivered to her house.

According to Federline, their family indeed talked to the reporters several times but "in a respectful way with love and compassion for Britney and the Spears family."

However, he found the report to be the reporters' way to create clickbait material that shows how low certain journalism is now.

Britney Spears' Lawyer Calls Out Reporters

Following Federline's statement, Spears' attorney Mathew Rosengart debunked the defamatory report regarding Spears' alleged crystal meth use.

Page Six revealed that the high-powered attorney sent a legal letter to the Daily Mail on Sunday in which he demanded an internal investigation. He noted that Federline acknowledged that a falsification of the story occurred through his weekend exclusive interview with a news outlet.

"Britney is indeed a public figure, but this conduct is beyond the pale and completely unacceptable," the letter concluded. "It is shoddy even by today's standards of 'journalism' and the unfair scrutiny she has faced."

The Daily Mail still has not taken down the article as of press time; no response to Federline and Rosengart
