John Lennon knew The Beatles would break up after he met Yoko Ono.
Decades after The Beatles disbanded, talks about who caused the split continue to take over the internet as some blamed Lennon while others said it was because of Paul McCartney.
However, the late The Beatles member reportedly said in the past how meeting Ono sparked the beginning of the band's ending.
John Lennon Said The Beatles Were "Doomed" After He Met Yoko Ono
Lennon broke his silence before his death on Dec. 8, 1980, during which he said The Beatles' breakup started in 1966 when he met Ono.
The report reposted by Express UK noted that The Beatles cited creative differences, disagreements with the management, and band members' feuds as the reason behind the split. However, Lennon offered a different answer and said his wife was the reason behind the group's disbandment.
"The old gang of mine was over the moment I met her. I didn't consciously know it at the time, but that's what was going on," he said years after meeting her at an exhibition in London.
The couple first bumped into each other in November 1966 while Lennon was still married to Cynthia Lennon. Aside from The Beatles, Ono also caused Lennon's split from Cynthia.

In the same interview, Lennon declared that The Beatles ended as soon as he met Ono. However, the disbandment did not happen immediately since the band was the best and greatest band at that time.
While Ono did not do anything to make the late musician leave the band, Lennon himself chose to shift his focus on her and showed no interest in the band anymore.
The couple married on March 20, 1969, and stayed together until The Beatles member's assassination in 1980.
Yoko Ono Did Not Lead The Beatles Breakup
Amid the buzz that Ono caused The Beatles' split, she once addressed the issue by sharing an article titled "Beatles Fans Think 'Get Back' Dispels The Idea That Yoko Ono Broke The Band Up."
The post featured the shared article titled "Beatles Fans Think 'Get Back' Dispels The Idea That Yoko Ono Broke The Band Up" which showed her working on her tasks and not getting involved in making the band's last album.
She also received defenses, with Mark Russell writing, "That's what I mean. Why was it ever easier for people to believe that Yoko Ono broke up the Beatles rather than that they were just four adult mega stars who decided they didn't want to play in the band they started as teenagers anymore?"
