Britney Spears and Kevin Federline do not like each other that much, especially after their nasty divorce and child custody battle several years back.
However, recent reports by the Daily Mail UK and The Sun have forced the pair to sort of team up and call out the media for using their sons' and family's business to gain clicks.
The report in question is by a reporter named Daphne Barak for the Daily Mail UK. In her report, she alleged that Federline claimed that Spears is abusing drugs, specifically crystal meth.
A quote from the former backup dancer was also included in the report: "I fear she's on meth - I've been praying someone would make it public and that she wakes up."
"It's terrifying. She is the mother of my boys. [...] I don't want the boys to wake up one morning and find their mother has taken an overdose," the exclusive report added.
Britney Spears Addresses Drug Allegations
Aside from Federline claiming that the "Toxic" singer is grappling with drug addiction, the report also included a quote from one of her sons, Sean Preston.
He pleaded to his mother that "she'll listen to [them] before it's too late."
Spears took to Instagram to directly address the allegations as well as her son: "The fact that people are claiming things that are not true is so sad ... This may not even be them saying such things because it doesn't make any sense to me for them to be saying that.
"[...] It makes me sad because I tried so hard to make things nice for you and it was never good enough. So you guys go behind my back and talk about me ... it breaks my heart and the news is so low."
In her post, she also called out her son, as well as the media for sensationalizing her pain and suffering following the conservatorship.
"Hopefully it is just the news being hateful and Kevin nor Preston said any of those things."
Kevin Federline's Response
On the other hand, Federline also denies that the Daily Mail UK report is true, he called it "lies" and says that he is no longer working with Barak since March.
He points at the media for falsifying the story and exploiting their sons. "The lies and attempts to exploit minors as click bait is an other repulsive example of where, unfortunately, certain journalism is today," Federline wrote in his statement against the report.
