Paula Abdul Bio
Paula Julie Abdul was born on June 19, 1962 in San Fernando, California. Abdul initially came out of the music industry as one of Madonna's dance-pop diva counterparts. Paula was previously an LA Lakers cheerleader and choreographer who generated her first hit in 1989 with "Straight Up." The said song reached the top spot in the Billboard chart.
How Paula Abdul Started Her Music Career
Abdul was first exposed to the music industry when she worked as an assistant dance director on the Jacksons' "Victory" tour. This exposure led to Paula having had the opportunity to become a choreographer for Janet Jackson's videos for "Control," as per All Music. After thereafter having worked with other legendary musicians in the industry, Abdul formally launched her professional music career. Paula released her debut album in 1988 called, "Forever Your Girl." The other three chart topper singles off "Forever Your Girl" are the hits called, "Forever Your Girl," "Cold Hearted," and "Opposites Attract." Each of the said four hits from Abdul acquired a gold certified status from the RIAA.
Paula Abdul's Hits, Accomplishments, and Accolades
Abdul's sophomore album called, "Spellbound" was released in summer 1991. "Spellbound" eventually reached the triple platinum status. The three hits off this album were "Blowing Kisses in the Wind" (reached the number six spot), "Vibeology", and "Will You Marry Me?".
After having taken a three-year leave, Paula released her third album called, "Head Over Heels" in 1995's summer season. Among the accolades she has held through the years have been the Grammy Award for Best Music Video (1991) and American Music Award for for Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock (1992 and 1990), respectively.
Paula Abdul's Stint as an "American Idol" Judge
Abdul made a comeback in the music scene when she became one of the three judges in American Idol in 2002. Paula has been known to be the voice of positivity in AI alongside fellow judges, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, at the time. While being a judge in the reality singing competition series, Abdul released a hits collection, called, "Greatest Hits: Straight Up!", an appearcne in the music video of Randy Jackson for his song called, "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" in 2008, to name a few. In 2009, Paula released a solo single called, "I'm Just Here for the Music." Abdul, though, left American Idol in 2009.
Paula Abdul and "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills"
Fans may be surprised to hear that Paula Abdul refused the offer for her to co-star in the TV series, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." As per Billboard, the former AI judge admitted to have had the feeling of awakwardness seeing her co-stars in TRHOBH." Abdul has candidly admitted she would rather be a fan or an audience, curled up on the couch with popcorn on hand, while watching television show.
