Halfway through the airing of "The Idol," a controversial new series by the networking giant HBO, reactions on social media have become increasingly hostile.

Double Fantasy, the title of this past Sunday's episode, has drawn criticism for portraying Lily-Rose Depp's character Jocelyn engaging in masturbation and self-harm.

The newest episode of "The Idol," Daybreak, has sparked quite the controversy with its copious amounts of sex scenes and masturbation, featuring none other than Jocelyn and Tedros (The Weeknd).

Though the show entertains some on social media, most are not keen on the episode. This is primarily due to a rather distasteful joke referencing Jeffrey Epstein.

One person shared their disapproval, commenting, "That Epstein joke was objectionable," about a line spoken by Andrew Finkelstein in Eli Roth's movie.

The quote from the series said, "Jocelyn is making me have IBS. I'm f-----g s-------g more blood than a kid at Epstein's island."

According to The Mirror, viewers took to Twitter after Sunday night's episode of "The Idol" aired, with many expressing discontent.

One person tweeted in a fit of disappointment: "the Epstein's Island comment was too far for me in the new episode of The Idol. Let's not joke about child trafficking."

Another person said, "It's DISGUSTING how you make fun of 'children on Epstein island' on this show it's producers are sick."

'The Idol' Episode 3 'Daybreak' Recap

Sunday night's third episode of this series revealed a heartbreaking truth - Jocelyn, a beloved pop star, had a mother who was cruel and abusive to her.

Now with that tragedy in her past, she has encountered Tedros, a mysterious nightclub owner. Little by little, he is beginning to gain control over her life.

The episode started with Tedros urging Jocelyn to go shopping, with her confidant and assistant Leia (Rachel Sennott) taking the wheel. As they drove, Tedros gave Jocelyn a bit of a surprise- going down on her in the backseat.

Upon their arrival, they were greeted by an excited crowd of admirers.

Eager to please her fans, Jocelyn took photos with them before heading into Valentino. But Leia phoned ahead to alert Chaim (Hank Azaria) and Destiny (Da'Vine Joy Randolph)

Finally, Tedros arrived at the house where Chaim and Destiny were waiting for him.

He promised that he would create three amazing songs within two weeks. Despite the charm he exuded, both of them feared that Jocelyn might be in danger. As they drove away, they discussed their worries silently.

An incident that has stirred up debate amongst show fans is when Tedros and Jocelyn consummated their relationship in the Valentino store.

Jocelyn made sure to pull out at the last minute, resulting in Tedros pleasuring himself while she sipped champagne, with befuddled employees witnessing it all.

Tedros' fiery attitude is displayed multiple times during the film, as he angrily shouts at an employee he believes to be ogling Jocelyn, warning that he will 'curb stomp' him. Izaak (Moses Sumney) and Chloe (Suzanna Son)

One night, at a dinner hosted by Jocelyn, the topic of her mother arose.

She divulged that the woman she had tragically lost to cancer only recently was quite abusive towards her. With a hairbrush in hand, her mother hit Jocelyn to spur on her career pursuits.

Tedros was crafty and used manipulative tactics, leading Jocelyn to admit that she longs for invigoration. Unfortunately, he followed in her mother's footsteps by mistreating her.
