Metallica and Megadeth have been rival bands for decades now, but it appears that the latter's member, Dave Mustaine, has a sudden change of heart as he praised Kirk Hammett for his guitar skills.
The musician recently spoke with Guitar World to share his true feelings over Metallica and surprisingly, he has nothing but kind words about the group that he once considered a rival.
To give fans a context, Mustaine was a former member of Metallica and Hammett was the one who filled in his spot after his departure.
When asked if he listened to the latest album of the other band, the Megadeth member said he didn't get the chance to go through it but he has other things to say.

Recalling what happened over two decades ago, the musician noted that both bands "were not being friendly toward each other" to the point that he couldn't even listen to their music whenever it plays on the radio. (via Web is Jericho)
Fast forward to today, Mustaine is not bothered with the feud anymore, adding, "after the Big Four thing that we did. I really think we should do that again."
Speaking about Kirk Hammett, the musician clarified that he had always poked fun at the guitarist and he admitted that it was unfair because he never did anything to him.

Explaining the reason why, he noted that whenever he felt singled out in the past or being picked on by his previous bandmates Lars Ulrich or James Hetfield, it was easy for him to pick on Hammett.
"The truth is Kirk did me an honor by trying to play my solos on those early songs the way he did... Well, I think that some people would have just started over again," he said.
He continued praising the Metallica member, saying he thought it was honorable for the guitarist to take his solos and do his best to play them the way he did when he was still a part of the band.
Speaking about the musician's guitar skills, Mustaine went on to share that Hammett won "every guitar contest in the world" in the past and he doesn't think that he got better or worse as a guitarist, but rather, he's "always been really good" even when he was still a part of Exodus.
