Doubts still linger around Arctic Monkeys' appearance at Glastonbury 2023 Friday after singer Alex Turner received a worrying health diagnosis.
A few days before Artic Monkeys headlines this year's Glastonbury, the attendees received bad news as the frontman's health deteriorated following his acute laryngitis diagnosis. The condition has since temporarily affected Turner's capacity to sing due to his swollen and irritated vocal cords.
Although the band only canceled its Dublin show so far, fans remain anxious about whether the group can make it to the event, given that it is only less than two days before the Friday show.
Will Arctic Monkeys Be Replaced at Glastonbury 2023?
Arctic Monkeys confirmed in a statement Monday that Turner was told to rest his voice following the diagnosis, and he has not been seen publicly since the announcement was made.
Amid worries, a Glastonbury 2023 co-organizer confirmed that they have backup plans if the "I Wanna Be Yours" hitmakers would not be able to headline the first night before Guns N' Roses and Elton John take over the stage on the next two days.
Emily Eavis recently spoke to The Times newspaper (via Daily Mail), in which she expressed how tragic it would be if the band would not make it to the show. Still, she assured everyone that they are prepared for whatever is set to happen.

"I think we are going to be all right," she said. "They've canceled that [show], he's [Turner] recovering. I'm sure we're going to be all right. We've got a couple of backup plans if not."
The newspaper asked the co-organizer who could replace Arctic Monkeys and whether Foo Fighters would be invited onboard or not as rumors suggest. However, Eavis refused to give more information and said people should allow the surprise to happen.
Aside from Foo Fighters, Harry Styles and Lewis Capaldi also became the rumored replacements for the Arctic Monkeys at the Glastonbury 2023.
Fans Worried Arctic Monkeys Would Not Make It
Eavis' assurance came after fans assumed Turner might not be able to recover before the Glastonbury 2023 despite canceling Arctic Monkeys' Dublin show.
They noted that in 2013, a similar thing happened when Turner was also diagnosed with laryngitis and was only able to return to the stage after five days. The frontman, however, only had four days to recuperate when the band revealed his health status.
