In line with the trend of cities that Taylor Swift is visiting for "The Eras" Tour, the Minneapolis Local Government has officially announced that they would be renaming the city to "Swiftie-apolis" in anticipation of her arrival in the City of Lakes.

Taylor Swift is visiting Minneapolis for her concert on Jun. 23 and 24 for "The Eras" Tour, along with Gracie Abrams, Girl in Red, and Owenn. This is the sixth to the last city that Swift will be visiting for the North American leg of her "The Eras" Tour.

According to Billboard, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said in a press conference that they would be temporarily renaming the City of Minneapolis to "Swiftie-apolis" in celebration and anticipation of her stop in the city for two days.

"We are embarking on what will be one of the most exciting weekends in the city of Minneapolis. With Pride plus Taylor Swift, we are expecting more than half a million people... it's better than our wildest dreams," he said, referencing Taylor Swift's song "Wildest Dreams."

As expected and similar to the previous concerts in other states and cities, Taylor Swift's "The Eras" tour promises a huge revenue for business and tourism for the city.

500,000 fans are expected to attend the concert, which is a huge feat for the city itself. Hotel accommodations nearby the area is already slimming down following the anticipated influx of tourists and concertgoers.

"We are renaming Minneapolis to 'Swiftie-apolis' - as a singer, songwriter, performer and producer, Taylor is one of the most popular artists, and we're expecting hundreds of thousands to visit our downtown and experience our city as a result," he further told.

'The Eras' Tour

The trend of cities and local governments doing out of the ordinary for Taylor Swift started in Glendale, Arizona when the city renamed itself as "Swift City" when "The Eras" Tour kicked off at the Farm Stadium in March 2023.

Very recently, Taylor Swift also announced the dates for her Europe, Australia, and Asia. After Minneapolis, Swift will continue her tour in Cincinnati, Kansas City, Denver, Seattle, Santa Clara, and finally Inglewood.

After a short break, she will start her South America tour with Sabrina Carpenter.
