The proposal of constructing a Freddie Mercury statue outside the London Coliseum, now home to Queen's musical "We Will Rock You," was unfortunately scrapped.

The Sun reported that this is due to security concerns.

It is deemed unlikely the steel structure will be seen in this West End theatre as there is a fear it may be stolen.

In anticipation of the June 2 opening night, Queen lead guitarist Brian May, 75, posted a message on social media declaring that a brand new Freddie statue was being installed at London's Coliseum Theatre. He promised that this would come to fruition.

Permission had been sought to place the new Freddie statue outside London's Coliseum. However, this has proven to be challenging.

Due to the fact it is classified as a historic building, complications have arisen, and progress has stalled.

The Dominion Theatre was formerly home to the show "Queen: The Musical" until its closure in 2014, when it stood on its roof for 13 years, an earlier incarnation of the Freddie statute.

The West End is known to be a bit of a chaotic area during the night, so worries are growing about the potential theft of Freddie should he be placed outside.

With no possibility of him going on the roof, the theatre must quickly devise an idea to prepare him for his new three-month show run.

It appears that the memorial will only find its permanent place there. Freddie, who composed many of the band's most famous songs, including "Killer Queen," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Somebody to Love," and "Don't Stop Me Now," passed away at 45 in Kensington, West London, in 1991.
