Kelly Clarkson just released her new album, "Chemistry," and it chronicled the entire process of the singer's feelings in the aftermath of the messy divorce that she had with ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

Listening to the new record, Clarkson did not mince her words in verbalizing and articulating her emotions into words. As she rollout the promotion of the album, she also went on interviews and began talking about the dark moment of her life.

Kelly Clarkson 'Cried So Hard' During Divorce

As expected, divorce is especially a hard time for any person's life. For Kelly Clarkson, she wanted to make things work. Speaking to Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Clarkson admitted how she processed her emotions during the painful moment.

"I don't know how people get through anything like that because I'm not going to say I did it gracefully. Behind closed doors by myself, it was not. Just to be brutally honest, I did not handle it well," the "Stronger" singer confessed.

Clarkson and Blackstock filed for divorce in 2021, and it was decked with controversies surrounding custody, property, and alimony disagreements. Being married to Reba McEntire's son - Blackstock - for seven years was no easy feat. The rather joyful singer confessed to crying "so hard" that she could not even speak while they were in the midst of the separation,

"There were just a lot of now unhealthy habits you recognize or habits that you recognize that you didn't see before. Hindsight is a lot easier," she added, saying that she tried to "make it work." However, after unsuccessful attempts, they agreed to call it quits.

"I think when you finally go, 'I can't fix this. I can't,' there's no amount of hope that will, or trying or whatever. It actually is freeing. It's incredibly sad. It's a dark place, and fetal position on the floor crying. There's so much loss with that and I'd never experienced grief like that, but I also think it's very freeing," she elaborated.

Kelly Clarkson New Album 'Chemistry'

Clarkson's 10th studio album, "Chemistry," might be her most emotional album yet considering the gravity and the intimacy of the songs she has put out. Even before, Clarkson has been fond of sharing her personal life with her fans through her music.

Releasing "Chemistry" puts Clarkson in a more personal relationship with her fans because of the vulnerability of the record. Among the songs that she said held so much importance to her were "Lighthouse" and "Red Flag Collector," which were pretty much obvious jabs toward Blackstock.
