As the American rock superstars began their first performance at the renowned festival, Axl Rose thanked the crowd for "inviting" them.
On Saturday night, the Gun N' Roses lost little time in getting the crowds going by playing a number of popular songs like Bad Obsession, Chinese Democracy, and Slither.
The band's original lineup, which included Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan before their 2015 reunion, performed. Fans erupted when the guitarist began playing the iconic first riff to their popular song Welcome To The Jungle, complete with Slash's signature top hat, dark glasses, and long black hair wigs.
Switching up the lyrics and pumping up the crowd, Rose sang: "Do you know where you are? You're in the jungle, Glastonbury!"
He then asked the throng how they are doing and how grateful he is for them.
Rose later informed supporters that his decision to stay indoors and avoid interacting with them was not a "wuss out" attempt.
"I can only walk so far, because if I walk out here I can only hear the crowd I can't hear the band. I'm not trying to wuss out," he said,
The fifth day of the Worthy Farm festival in Somerset concluded with a two-hour plus performance by Guns N' Roses.
Earlier acts like Lizzo, Lewis Capaldi, and The Pretenders also made appearances. Prior to Guns N' Roses, Lizzo gave a high-energy performance that was filled with her customary messages of diversity, acceptance, and body positivity. The American pop star thanked her supporters for helping her reach the Glastonbury mainstage, saying she was "so moved" by their support.
She alternated between three striking clothes throughout the act, beginning in a pink and black tasselled jumpsuit, moving into a sparkly pink one, and finishing in a glittering golden garment.
Gun N' Roses performing at Glastonbury is not without controversy.
Noel Gallagher thinks it's "crazy s***" that Guns N' Roses will be the Glastonbury headliner. The former member of Oasis is perplexed by the selection of Axl Rose, Slash, and the band to front this weekend's Worthy Farm list, and he believes that the position should have gone to a top British artist.
He told the Daily Star newspaper's Wired column: "What I found out Guns N' Roses are headlining Glastonbury, I thought, 'What? Are you being serious? That's crazy s***'.
"When you think of all the huge British artists who've had albums out this past year, having Guns N' Roses headlining the Saturday is mad."
