It was reported a few days after the Titan submarine accident that Celine Dion's song from the 1997 Oscar-winning film Titanic, "My Heart Will Go On," had witnessed a significant increase on streaming services as a result of the disaster.
In the week following the Titan submersible event, according to a number of social media users, the song received more than 7 million Spotify streams and peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 100 charts.
However, a Snopes report claims that this is untrue. Now it feels weird why this news is even concocted after the tragedy. Is it not a little bit careless?
For the week ending June 24, "My Heart Will Go On" was not included in the Billboard Hot 100 list.
It was absent from the top 200 daily music charts in the US. between June 19 and June 22.
According to reports, the song was excluded off Spotify's Global Top 200 Daily Songs lists for those dates as well.
The Titan submarine has been missing in the ocean's depths since June 18. The US Coast Guard said on Thursday that all five of the crew members were murdered within seconds of the submersible experiencing a "catastrophic implosion" 1,600 feet from the Titanic's bow.
This information came to light following a five-day search. British millionaire adventurer Hamish Harding, French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Sulaiman Dawood, and Stockton Rush, the creator of OceanGate, were all aboard the missing submersible. The dive's objective was to investigate the Titanic's wreckage. Titan, however, failed to emerge as expected when contact was lost with it an hour and 45 minutes into the dive.
Every time Celine Dion posts updates on social media, her followers are there to show their support. Wednesday was no different. This week, the Love Again star took to Instagram to share news of new music, writing: "Here it is, as tradition, Celine's 2023 Pride playlist!" before sharing a link to the playlist she's put together to celebrate Pride Month, which includes songs by Britney Spears, Madonna, Tina Turner, Lizzo, and Shania Twain. Celine frequently uses her account to share health updates on her stiff person syndrome.
"Love is for everyone, no matter who you are, where you're from and who you want to love! Be yourself and be loud!" she captioned the post, alongside a series of lyrics from her song "The Gift, writing:" "Only love can illuminate. Ignite the midnight dark. Only love can captivate. Break down the coldest heart, heart. It's a cure, a light, an answer and a healing. There's an anthem we have in our blood we're needing. Only love, only love, only love, only love is the gift."
A rare neurological condition called stiff person syndrome affects Celine Dion. Muscle rigidity in the arms and trunk is one of the signs of stiff person syndrome, which is frequently brought on by touch, noise, and mental strain. Muscle spasms, which characterize Celine's condition, make it difficult for her to perform.
