Before heading down the Yellow Brick Road, Ariana Grande was a huge success in the music industry; did she really trade in her flourishing career for her life-long dream?
Fans are deeply missing the "POV" singer, and have been asking her for new music since she released her sixth studio album, "Positions," three years ago.
Some had even resorted to leaking unreleased videos and audio from Grande's vault just to make up for all the lost time-to which she addressed via social media: "Wrote this for a comedy sketch about a girl group. This was the demo I made for them. Please stop spreading leaks. I appreciate it."
However, it seems like the major reason why Grande is no longer releasing any music-and might not be releasing albums anytime soon is because of her role as Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming "Wicked" movie.
Ariana Grande's Big Dream
In 2021, Grande revealed to her fans that she was cast alongside Tony Award-winning Cynthia Erivo, who will play Elphaba, in the live adaptation of "Wicked," which will be directed by John M. Chu.
The movie is expected to premiere on November 2024, while filming began in December 2022. "Wicked" will also have a second part, which will be released in November 2025.
Ariana Grande's Career
Grande, who began singing and acting at a young age, has always been vocal about her desire to be part of the Broadway musical, but after her short-lived Broadway stint, she never thought that she would be a part of any of the musical productions.
She began working at Nickelodeon as a teenager, where she became known as Cat Valentine, the lovable yet clueless character from the children's show "Victorious."
Grande, however, transitioned from kids' show actress to singer when she released her first debut single "Put Your Hearts Up." She eventually dropped her debut studio album "Yours Truly" in 2013.
Since then, the "God is a Woman" singer has constantly and regularly released album after album.
This is the first time in a very long time that Grande has taken a lot of time off music. Back then, her album cycles had a gap of a year or two in between.
But with her beauty brand REM Beauty releasing collection after collection, and her acting career in full swing, it seems like music will have to take a backseat for a while.
As of this writing, Grande boasts a reported net worth of $240 million, which just proves that the singer is in no rush to drop a new album anytime soon-she has everything she has ever wanted right now.
