Is Melanie Martinez scamming her own fans?

After announcing her highly anticipated tour in support of her "Portals" album, Ticketmaster released several VIP packages-which include a meet and greet with a hologram version of the singer instead of the singer herself.

The aforementioned package-which costs $400-was described as an "interactive photo experience," which led fans to believe that it was an in-person meet and greet.

The holographic version of the singer, as well as the entire VIP package experience, was met with some criticisms: "Just got home from the Melanie Martinez portals and kinda upset [about] how the VIP meet and greet was AI generated; also didn't even get my vip merch."

Melanie Martinez's Hologram Double

Several fans took to social media to express their disappointment with the singer and her team, as well as Ticketmaster.

"Melanie Martinez AI meet and greet is the stupidest thing ever!" A netizen wrote.

"I will never understand how people are willingly paying money to see Melanie Martinez perform in a custom. Especially the ai meet and greet thing. I like them but ???"

"Oh I'm so sorry to all the Melanie Martinez fans who paid $$$ for a VIP meet and greet and it was AI GENERATED.... I literally thought it was a joke get ur money back girl."

"I still love [Melanie] and everything," another fan wrote. "I'm literally going to her concert. But she could at least put in some more effort."

Melanie Martinez's 'Portals'

Martinez has released three studio albums so far: "Cry Baby" in 2015, "K-12' in 2019, and finally the most recent one "Portals" in early 2023.

The singer, who is known to have unusual themes in her music, shocked fans when she unveiled the cover of her album, which showed what looks like an alien.

"Portals" produced the singles "Death" and "Void." The two singles are completely different from her previously- released songs like "Dollhouse," "Play Date," and "Pity Party."

After its release, the singer-songwriter finally decided to embark on a brand new tour, which will stop in 27 cities in the United States.

Just like her album, the tour's theme revolves around fantasy and mystique. The stage is covered with moss, mushrooms, vines, and smoke to set the mood.

Likewise, her fans have also dressed for the occasion. Fans are seen wearing faerie outfits with elf ears and such.
