Kelly Clarkson has had many hits in the past, but perhaps the one that people and her fans very much remember her from was the song "Since U Been Gone."
The song, released on her second album, "Breakaway," became one of the most popular hits at the time and it has been labeled as one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone.
Why Did Kelly Clarkson Hated 'Since U Been Gone'?
In an interview with Watch What Happens With Andy Cohen, Kelly Clarkson confessed her true feelings about the song.
Cohen asked Clarkson about an excerpt from Clive Davis' memoir where he wrote that he had to "force" Clarkson to record the now-iconic song back then.
"Let's give some backstory. I was lied to, and they told me there are these producers who want to work with you and there's this song. It had dummy lyrics. They didn't have lyrics in. They said they wanted me to work with it. I was told to write to the song," she recalled being told.
As Clarkson racked her brains on trying to write the lyrics, she revealed that she was flown to Sweden and met Max Martin and Dr. Luke. Apparently, they haven't been informed that Clarkson is already in the process of writing as they have already finished writing the song.
"I looked like a fool. The label had told me something completely different. That's a red flag. Why lie to me like that? I don't like the lying. Thats why I have a bad vibe with that song. It's interesting facts that people like to leave out," she revealed.
But despite this, Clarkson knows how to compartmentalize and despite the negative emotions she had about the song, she acknowledges how people want to hear her perform.
"It's fine as hell to sing. I am such a great compartmentalizer and can put that aside and sing the hell out of it on tour. I would never not do that," she admitted.
