The Recording Academy announced that the 66th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Feb. 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Grammy 2024 nominees will be revealed on November 2024, roughly three months before the actual ceremony.
Notably, the next year's ceremony will be featuring 94 award categories, including new ones, and a major restructuring in the General Field.
With those aside, the battle for Album of the Year is once again packed this year. So far, Gold Derby has predicted some of the albums that would most likely be nominated next year.
Grammy Awards 2024 Nomination Predictions: Album of the Year
SZA - "SOS"
SZA's banger album "SOS" is a frontrunner for the Album of the Year nominees, perhaps a strong one to take home the award. Although SZA's "Ctrl" was not nominated for Album of the Year, it was one of the major upsets at the 2018 Grammy Awards. Dominating the Billboard 200 albums chart and hitting some major career-defining strides, "SOS" will surely have a place on the eight slots allocated this year for the category.
Taylor Swift - "Midnights"
Taylor Swift and the Grammys have always had a great relationship. "Midnights" is one of the biggest, perhaps the biggest debut and impact in the past few months. Thanks to "The Eras" Tour, the album even reached maximum listenership. This one is definitely nominated. Should Swift win with "Midnights" she would make history as the artist with the most Album of the Year wins in Grammy history with 4.
Miley Cyrus - "Endless Summer Vacation"
As she moved to Columbia Records, Miley Cyrus became bigger than ever. Her album, "Endless Summer Vacation," is perhaps her most critically acclaimed yet. Birthing the songs "Flowers," "River," and "Jaded," the album embodied Cyrus' vulnerable side. Surely, the album would be considered for a nomination.
Lana Del Rey - "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd"
Like Cyrus, Lana Del Rey has never won a Grammy. With "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd," it would seem like Del Rey can finally score a nomination, and by some great odds, she can pull a win this time. Although the album did not perform well commercially, Grammy voters do necessarily rely on those when they cast their votes.
Metro Boomin' - "Heroes & Villains"
"Heroes & Villains" might be one of the few Hip-hop albums that would make it into the Album of the Year category this year. Packed with an ambitious amount of collaborations with Future, Young Thug, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Chris Brown, and even John Legend, the album is filled with Boomin's greatest works yet as a rapper, writer, and producer. Well, if all else fails, the album is a great contender for Best HipHop Album, and might actually win it.
Morgan Wallen - "One Thing At A Time"
It was evident in recent chart data that Country music has performed well relatively than the past few years. Morgan Wallen's "One Thing At A Time," has achieved huge chart success and acclaim across genres and audiences. It is very well expected to be considered for a nomination, but should it win a Grammy Award, Wallen's first by any chance, it would be the first Country Album to win a Grammy since Kacey Musgrave's "Golden Hour" in 2019.
