Ed Sheeran enlisted the help of John Mayer and Little Big Town to open for him on his "Mathematics Tour," while Khalid is still recuperating from a car accident he was involved in.
According to reports, the Gillette Stadium in Foxboro announced the new set of performers, as well as Rosa Linn, opening for Sheeran for his June 30 and July 1 shows.
The new update caused some fans to raise an eyebrow-after all, Sheeran is a good longtime friend of Taylor Swift, whereas Mayer is Swift's ex-boyfriend.
The "Anti-Hero" singer and "Your Body is a Wonderland" singer dated in the early 2010s but broke up shortly after their relationship was established. Swift famously wrote a song about Mayer called "Dear John."
Taylor Swift's Fans Are Disappointed
Beneath Gillette Stadium's official announcement via Twitter, fans flocked over to share their thoughts on Sheeran associating himself with Mayer-which has never happened until now.
"He could have called Shawn Mendes again or pulled in a favor w. Justin Bieber anyone but that dude," a fan wrote.
"She's got a list of names and Ed's is in red underlined," another added, referencing Swift's song "Look What You Made Me Do."
"WAIT ISNT IT LIKE A WEEK BEFORE 'SPEAK NOW' TV BEING RELEASED???"
"It's giving...somewhere in the haze got a sense I've been betrayed," a fan added, referencing Swift's other song "The Great War."
On the other hand, during one of her shows, Swift openly addressed the rumors surrounding herself and Mayer before performing "Dear John."
"I'm 33 years old," she said. "I don't care about anything that happened to me when I was 19."
Despite her best efforts trying to call off her fans from attacking Mayer on social media, they only doubled down.
Khalid's Car Accident
The announcement of the new set of tour openers comes several days after Sheeran's original opener, Khalid, got involved in a car accident.
The "Perfect" singer even had to open his own show in Washington D.C. because of the incident, reports say.
There is not a lot of information regarding Khalid and his injuries or how he is doing after the accident, however, Sheeran insists that the "Young Dumb & Broke" singer is coming back to tour alongside him very soon.
"I just want to say, before I introduce this next song, that I really hope Khalid gets well soon and that he'll be joining us in Boston," Sheeran told the audience.
