Jim Sullivan's disappearance case took over the spotlight again as the US officials dealt with more hair-raising information in the ongoing UFO investigation.
The interest in UFOs and extraterrestrial phenomena heightened recently following the reported sightings in different states in the US. In the music industry, the query into the alleged aliens on the planet also led people to look into Sullivan's unsolved UFO mystery decades after it happened.
Where Did Jim Sullivan Go? Singer's Whereabouts Remain a Mystery
Several musicians created songs about UFOs over the decades, talking about the reported green-colored men who boarded disc-shaped objects that appeared in the past decades.
One of them was Sullivan, who marked his debut as a singer in 1969 with the album, "U.F.O." His success as a musician also opened the door for him to become part of the film industry, with "Easy Rider" tapping him to make a cameo, per Ultimate Classic Rock.
However, he faced an issue a few years later when some of his music was reportedly stolen, and it led him to develop a drinking problem.
Desperate to get his spotlight again, he told his wife Carol and son Chris he would take them once he found work in Nashville. They witnessed him leave Los Angeles in his Volkswagen Beetle, and that was the last time they ever saw him.
As of press time, nobody ever found a clue to explain Sullivan's disappearance, but his vanishing led to one theory surrounding him: the singer being abducted by aliens.
Matt Sullivan Says Jim Sullivan's Songs Were Seemingly Connected to the Events
Matt Sullivan, who is not related to the missing singer, aimed to reissue "U.F.O" 35 years after Sullivan vanished, prompting him to start his research.
He worked with Mel Eslyn and Jennifer Maas to learn what truly happened to Sullivan, but no one could explain what occurred at that time.
On the Aquarium Drunkard blog, it was revealed that Matt and his team went to Santa Rosa, N.M., after seeing the album's cover photo and a picture of the singer walking in the New Mexico desert. Still, they found no traces of him, and they also had to deal with contradicting statements about Sullivan's last appearance before he vanished.
The singer's car was found outside a ranch 26 miles from the motel where he booked a room he had never used, something the ranch owners and workers did not believe.
"One thing that one of Jim's friends pointed out was that the guitar was left in the car," he went on. "If Jim were going to disappear, that would have been the one thing that he would have taken - because wherever he was in the world, he could always stand on a street corner and make a few bucks playing his guitar."
