Jason Derulo believes that fans would STOP throwing things at their idols during concerts if the artists themselves step in and do something about it.
Things have been quite crazy lately, with reports of artists being pelted with all sorts of thingss while performing, i.e Pink getting thrown at with a fan's mom's ashes. Unbelievable.
While out promoting his new book - Sing Your Name Out Loud: 15 Rules for Living Your Dream - at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in New York City, Derulo sounded a bit bewildered that audience goers, technically real fans would, want to hurt the perfomers they chose to pay to see.
"You don't get anything from that," Derulo told TMZ when asked about recent reports of such throwng. "All you do is disrespect the artist. I've had it happen to be before as well."
Derulo, 33, maintains that such instances started with fans hoping their idols would use the device to snap a photo but it has certainly evolved into something very different.
"It's like a real thing. People are throwing their phones," he shared, before demonstrating how he would dodge a flying device. "t's like the Matrix; you've got to dodge these phones. It's getting dangerous out here."
The star wholeheartedly believes artists can be part of the solution by not engaging with fans who throw items at them while on stage or being disrespectful.
Bebe Rexha, it can be remembered, got hit in the face by a fan's phone while in the middle of singing a song in mid-June.
She would fall to her knees in pain. She would even go to the hospital for some stitches to be done; not to mention, the obvious black eye.
Afterwards, Rexha, 33, would take to her Instagram page and shared to her fans that she's good. Alongside a photo of her giving a thumbs and not bothering to hide the black eye.
A 27-year-old New Jersey man was arrested and has since been charged with felony assault for being responsible for the throwing, according to Today.
It can also be recalled how Ava Max, at a time of singing and dancing on stage who got smacked by a man momentarily broke free from an apparent security worker.
Max, 29, grabbed at her face for a few seconds, but did her best to shrug it off by continuing on with the performance.
