Coco Lee Years Before Tragic Death: Is THIS Real Reason She Committed Suicide?

Mandopop Queen Coco Lee has passed away for a very tragic reason. Her family has outrightly said she committed suicide so there is no dilly-dallying wondering her true cause of death. But this does not mean fans are not left reeling, confused, and very sad.

Nancy, Coco's older sister and former manager, disclosed that the 48-year-old had passed away in the hospital earlier that day in a message on her own social media accounts today (July 5).

Coco attempted suicide at home on July 2 and has been in a coma ever since.

Fans are naturally bewildered and feel compelled to investigate the cause. Here's a look back at the earlier years to understand how Coco Lee could have become despondent and made the decision to commit suicide. We would obviously never truly know exactly, though.

Coco Lee's Career On the Rocks?

Born and reared in the United States, Coco made her professional acting debut in 1993 after finishing as the first runner-up in TVB's 12th Annual New Talent Singing Awards. Her singles include "Dao Ma Dan" and "Di Da Di," and she has albums in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.

She participated in music competitions like I Am A Singer, Young Forever, and Infinity and Beyond recently.

While there is an apparent hiatus on the part of Coco Lee to release new music in the past years, one cannot say that she has completely vanished from the scene.

According to her family, Coco's singing career is supposed to celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2023; over the past 29 years, she has garnered countless accolades on a global scale with hit songs and left audiences in awe of her outstanding live performances.

Nancy even praised Coco for her continuous efforts to "open up a new world for Chinese singers in the international music scene."

Was Her Marriage in Trouble?

She got married to Canadian billionaire Bruce Rockowitz in 2011, despite recent reports that their union was in trouble.

They have not separated nor had Rockowitcz made a statement about Lee's untimely death.

One can recall though that back in 2021, A Weibo post by Hongkong pop diva Coco Lee about "mending a broken spirit" sparked widespread rumours that her marriage to Canadian billionaire Bruce Rockowitz was in trouble. However, soon after, it appears that they have patched things up. Some publications said that Coco may have just been being emo while she and her husband were on fine terms all along.

Is Her Health Failing?!

Coco said in February of this year that she had undergone surgery to repair a previous leg injury.

However, the latest update was that she was currently "learning to walk again."

According to her family, despite her efforts to overcome sadness and expert assistance, the demon inside of her ultimately won. At present, Coco Lee's sister shared that their current top priority is caring for their ageing mother and requested for some time and privacy so the family could heal.

Nancy also thanked the medical staff for their commitment to caring for Coco. Although Coco is only in the world for a little period of time, her light will never fade, she added.
