Sam Smith 'Barbie' Song 'Man I Am' Receives Underwhelming Response From Fans

After much hype and anticipation on who the mystery singer on the official "Barbie" movie soundtrack is, fans seemed to be upset that Sam Smith was the last artist to be announced.

Fans thought that it was Ariana Grande or Lady Gaga singing the final track from the project as rumors and reports emerged shortly after it was teased by Mark Ronson.

What is Sam Smith's 'Barbie' Song?

According to an Instagram post, Sam Smith finally revealed that they would be the final artist for the upcoming "Barbie" movie soundtrack.

"I cannot begin to express how incredibly excited I am to be a part of the soundtrack to this already iconic film," he said in a statement. "I was invited by the incredible @iammarkronson and Greta Gerwig to write a song from the perspective of Ken for one of the scenes and we honestly had so much fun with this. I cannot wait for you to hear what we've created together."

Sam Smith will be performing the song "Man I Am," for the "Barbie" movie soundtrack. They will join the long list of star-studded artists for the said project which includes Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Lizzo, Ava Max, Tame Impala, Dominic Fike, HAIM, Khalid, GAYLE, Fifty Fifty, Charli XCX, Karol G, PinkPhanteress, The Kid LAROI, and even Ryan Gosling himself.

Billie Eilish was also among the last two artists announced to be included on the hotly-awaited soundtrack.

Nicki Minaj, HAIM, Billie Eilish, Karol G, Ava Max, and Dua Lipa were present at the Los Angeles Premiere of "Barbie."

Reports that Sam Smith will be included in the soundtrack came about when Buzzing Pop said that the song was registered on a song registration website at the time. Alas, the reports were true.

However, the reception wasn't looking good as many would have expected.

On Twitter, fans were more expressive of their disappointment that it was Smith who was the mystery artist.

"They built all that hype around the last two artists on the Barbie soundtrack just for it to be billie eilish and sam smith be so serious rn," a user said.

"simply ludicrous that the two artists they were holding from the barbie soundtrack are billie eilish and sam smith...," another commented.
