Cash-strapped In an effort to resurrect his acting career and make his music career fly, Johnny Depp has covertly taken out a $10 million mortgage on his sprawling Los Angeles mansion.
After blowing his $650 million fortune on costly litigation with Amber Heard and careless spending, he was forced to take out the eight-figure home loan with City National Bank, known as the "bank to the stars" for its generous borrowing deals to A-listers, in March 2022, DailyMail.com has learned.
However, the Fantastic Beasts star now spends the majority of his free time at his island property in the Bahamas rather than the eight-bedroom mansion in West Hollywood. Depp is now touring in Europe with the band he founded with Joe Perry and Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires.
On Monday, they performed in London, and now they are on their way to the Czech Republic. I went unannounced to Dylan Thomas' childhood home in Wales after a performance in Swansea, the country's second-largest city.
Exclusive DailyMail.com photographs show that Depp, 60, paid $2.15 million for the eight-bedroom West Hollywood castle estate with turrets and towers in March 1995, but that the property is now looking worse for wear and needs some TLC. The grounds are overgrown compared to a few years ago, when the trees and shrubs were kept trimmed to allow the swimming pool to receive some sunlight, even though the main property appears to be in reasonable order.
n the right side of the unusual 1930s property is a scruffy-looking tiny castle with shredded canvas-topped towers that has never before been captured on camera. Being bordered by considerably more humble homes, it is reminiscent of the castle where Depp's Edward Scissorhands lived in the 1990 film. After ex-wife Amber Heard accused him of abuse, which led to the couple's tumultuous defamation trial last year, Depp famously lost favor in Hollywood.
He won the case, but only after his ex-girlfriend made embarrassing allegations about him in court. Depp had a respite last year when a jury voted in his favor and granted him $10 million in damages in the case against his ex-wife. As a result of the claims, Johnny had been fired from the lucrative Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
