Zayn Malik has spoken out about the altercation he had with Yolanda Hadid, which led to him being accused of four counts of harassment.
After reportedly slamming his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid's mother into a dresser and calling her a "f*****g Dutch sl*t" in September 2021, the former One Direction star, 30, entered a plea of not guilty. According to court records, he was also required to undergo an anger management course and 360 days of probation.
Zayn described the event as "family issues" and claimed he handled the situation "in the best way" during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy show.
He said he never engaged with the online hate he received at the time, because for him, his time is precious and as long as he knew whata truly happened, then that is what truly matters. He said also that all the parties knew the truth, so there was no reason to defend himself against those who do not.
He added that since my daughter will eventually read about everything he says online, he did not want to draw attention to himself and start an unnecessary fight. Therefore, he has no regrets of just letting the issue die out on its own. He said he handled it the best way, and that's all that needs to be said, considering a kid is involved.
On September 29, 2021, Yolanda visited the house Zayn and his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid lived while Gigi was in Paris modeling.
Khai, their now two-year-old daughter, was not present, but Zayn was.
It's unclear what happened next, but the two got into an argument, and Zayn reportedly grabbed Yolanda and shoved her into a dresser.
Yolanda was referred to as a "f*****g Dutch s**t" and he yelled, "Stay away from [my] f*****g daughter."
He also verbally abused her, allegedly.
According to reports, he roared down the phone to Gigi while she was in Paris, "Strap on some f*****g balls and defend your partner against your f*****g mother in my house." According to the court filings, a security guard was there throughout the exchange, and Zayn yelled at him, "Get the f*** out of my f*****g house copper." Another time, he said that the "f*****g sperm that came out of my f*****g c**k" was used to father Khai.
Gigi declined to provide any specific comments on the situation, but at the time her representative issued a statement that read: "Gigi is solely focused on what is best for Khai."
She requests privacy at that time. Although it wasn't apparent at the time whether he had been prosecuted criminally, Zayn wrote a statement on social media confirming the incident, saying he pled no contest, and that he was acting to protect his daughter.
He refuted the claim that he struck Yolanda though.
The former One Direction member, who now lives on a farm in Pennsylvania, shared also his fatherly dream of providing his daughter as much of a private life as possible.
He added that his child allows him to relieve his own childhood.
He said, "She didn't chose it, that's why we live here. I'm not shielding her from it because she's going to get to an age where she has a certain amount of awareness and will know what's going on."
