Weight loss surgery had the potential to be hazardous, yet it appears that nobody informed Lisa Marie Presley.

In January this year, the only daughter of Elvis Presley sadly passed away at only 54 years of age and now it has been made known that her death was a result of complications after having weight loss surgery.

Not long ago, the Los Angeles County Coroner's report revealed that the death of Lisa Marie was indeed related to a medical procedure; more specifically, bariatric surgery.

Reports of her having undergone this procedure several years prior were confirmed when it was declared that small bowel obstruction had caused her untimely demise.

The Mirror recently received a statement from Sam Mehta, a bariatric surgeon, who commented on Lisa Marie's weight loss surgery.

He said that she would have known about the potential risks associated with the procedure.

"She should have been informed beforehand," he stated. According to Mehta, it is possible that Lisa Marie underwent gastric bypass surgery which carries a risk of developing an internal hernia.

For those struggling with obesity, bariatric surgery may be a viable solution.

Techniques such as gastric banding, bypasses, or sleeve gastrostomies are commonly used to treat this condition when other weight-loss strategies have failed. The Mayo Clinic cites the use of such surgeries in these cases.

On the day of her death, it was reported that complaints were made by Lisa Marie about feeling abdominal discomfort.

An ambulance was called to the scene, where paramedics administered CPR in an attempt to revive her at her house.

The coroner's report concluded that a problem with her small bowel had been strangled due to adhesions stemming from bariatric surgery she'd received some years prior.

The examination into the death of Lisa Marie Presley has shown that a long-term complication associated with this kind of surgery is to blame.

According to the report, which was obtained by Sky News, this is what caused her death.

Additionally, a toxicology report revealed she had various medications present within her system at the time of her passing. These included Oxycodone and Buprenorphine, both at therapeutic levels.

Analysis of the toxicology report revealed that not only was Buprenorphine present in her system, a drug commonly prescribed for pain relief as well as to treat opioid addiction, but also Quetiapine, an antipsychotic medication.

Upon investigation, the coroner was able to confirm that there were no signs of any drugs present in Lisa Marie's house when she had been taken to the hospital.
