Tony Bennett has one regret he took to the grave following his passing, a source said.
Publicist Sylvia Weiner confirmed Bennett's death in a statement to The Associated Press, saying the singer died at his New York City home two weeks before his supposed 97th birthday.
Until his last breath, he remained committed as a musician he continuously toured even after he reached 95. However, his busy schedule reportedly led him to miss doing one thing, which he ultimately regretted.
Tony Bennett's Massive Regret
An unnamed source told National Examiner (via Ok! Magazine) that, while Bennett was happy before his death, the legendary singer took a secret to the grave as he regretted failing to save Amy Winehouse, who died in July 2011 due to a fatal overdose.
The "The Very Thought of You" was reportedly left heartbroken as he was not able to save the troubled British singer as he was committed to going on tour and performing. For Bennett, he could have had a lifesaving conversation with Winehouse in the past.

"Tony lives with the fact that he could have saved Amy by staying by her side, but it just didn't work out," the source disclosed, saying Bennett wanted to help his fellow singer as he also struggled with drug addiction. "What I wanted to do, I wanted to stop her. I wanted to tell her that many years ago I was naughty also with some drugs."
Bennett and Winehouse started their friendship after their meeting at Abbey Road in 2011, and they quickly became close after learning her battle with alcohol and drugs, including heroin and cocaine.
The unnamed insider added that the "The Way You Look Tonight" singer, who retired from touring in 2021, was curious if he could save the late female crooner since he also took a similar road in the past.
Tony Bennett Had His Own Addiction Problems
Prior to his demise, the "New York State of Mind" singer opened up in his 2011 book "All The Things You Are: The Life of Tony Bennett" that he struggled with drugs and depression over the past years.
He admitted to overindulging himself with cocaine and marijuana when his marriage fell apart and IRS started the proceedings to seize his home in Los Angeles.
Due to his overdose, he passed out while taking a bath and drowned; fortunately, his wife Sandra saved him.
