Just days after their divorce was finalized, Tony Bennett's ex-wife lashed out at the crooner, calling him an "old fool" who had been consumed by drugs.
While his fans may know him as "Mr. Nice Guy," Sandra Grant revealed a different side to Tony Bennett just years before his death.
She said, according to Radar Online, "That wasn't how I knew him -- he's been a star for three generations, but there is more to this singer than meets the eye."
Sandra, who rescued the legendary singer from a drug overdose, was turned away when she raised their two girls.
Recalling this time, she said: "I couldn't join him on tour much after the children were born and I was worried over his increased use of drugs which made him act suspiciously."
The death of Tony's mother in 1977 had left him shattered, and he was struggling to make ends meet in Las Vegas.
He reportedly recklessly consumed enough cocaine to knock him out while bathing one night, but fortunately, Sandra was home and rushed him to a hospital.
A friend at the time warned, "Tony will be furious about Sandra's claims that he used drugs during the 70s - though he has admitted it himself and quit since then."
Though still married to Patricia Beech, Tony began his relationship with Sandra.
By 1970, she had given birth to his daughter Joanna and soon afterward the couple divorced.
Later they decided to marry and had a second daughter named Antonia in 1974.
In 2007, the long-standing marriage between Tony Bennett and Sandra Grant were officially dissolved.
Before this, they had separated back in 1979 due to an alleged financial ruin on Tony's part; he neglected to pay his taxes and this led to their family home being taken away from them without any other option of living.
Immediately after the divorce, Tony wed Susan Crow who was 40 years younger than him.
During that time, Sandra snapped, "I am very happy to be free at last, and good luck to his current wife. But maybe it's the opposite and I should wish him luck. There's no fool like an old fool."
On Friday morning, Sylvia Weiner, the long-time publicist of legendary singer Tony Bennett came forth to confirm his death.
At the time of his demise, he was still married to 56-year-old Susan.
Unbeknownst to many, the artist had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease since 2021 and had kept his condition a secret until now.
