Before his diagnosis was announced, Bennett has been working with Lady Gaga already.

Tony Bennett Saved Lady Gaga's Life

A video clip of Lady Gaga speaking fondly about Tony Bennett has emerged after the latter's passing was announced.

It was actually an interview with Lady Gaga with CBS in 2014. In the video, she claimed that Bennett "saved" her life at one point.

"You know, it's one thing to put a train on the tracks," she explained. "But it's another thing to keep the train on the tracks. You just can't let a train out on the tracks and just run out. It'll... I crashed," she initially said. She continued emphasize that at one point, she "didn't even want to make music anymore" in 2013, a year before she worked with Bennett.

"I just want to be happy, and I can't tell you how happy singing this music makes me," the pop star shared, referring to the song "Cheek To Cheek.

According to Gaga, she got "tired" of making music the way that she wanted to, but thankfully, with Bennett's sage wisdom, she snapped out of it.

"And Tony... that's one of the first things he said to me. He said, 'Don't you ever, ever, ever, ever, again or in the future let anybody take down the quality or the intelligence of what you do'," she confessed.

Growing up, Gaga has always been a jazz singer, but no one helped her through it. Which is why when Bennett asked her to collaborate, she got pumped.

Lady Gaga Taken Advantage By Other Artists?

Elaborating more on her friendship with Bennett, Lady Gaga spoke to Parade Magazine and shared that he told Tony "every day that he saved my life."

As for working with Tony, Gaga had this to confess:

"I'm not going to say any names, but people get irrational when it comes to money - with how they treat you, with what they expect from you. But if you help an artist, it doesn't give you the right, once the artist is big, to take advantage of them...I was so sad. I couldn't sleep. I felt dead. And then I spent a lot of time with Tony. He wanted nothing but my friendship and my voice."
