Jungkook has been all around the world, promoting his newly released debut single "Seven," and he was welcomed so enthusiastically.
Almost too enthusiastically, even, because the BTS member encountered a sea of fans and reporters at Incheon International Airport, and it almost ended in disaster.
According to reports, the KPOP idol just returned to South Korea after his appearance and performance at Good Morning America's Summer Concert series earlier this month.
Despite being flanked by security and bodyguards, Jungkook was still mobbed by fans and reporters. They jumped over the barriers and hounded him for pictures.
One person even got so close to Jungkook that they almost toppled over the KPOP idol. Jungkook is fine, of course, but perhaps a little shaken by the incident.
Fans Demand More Security For Jungkook
The incident caused fans to delve into the toxic and problematic fan culture in South Korea, where fans would wait for their KPOP idols to arrive, and basically mob them as they exited the airport.
Jungkook's terrible airport experience is not his first, and it is a common occurrence among KPOP idols as well.
"Controversial topic but f**k KPOP and their enablement of airport culture. there's SO but SO many ways of making fans delusional (literally look at jungkook) in SAFE and RESPECTFUL ways but these companies do not give a fuck and putting the artist at risk is not a care for them," a fan wrote about it on Twitter.
The same fan also pointed out how "controlling" KPOP companies are about the idols' relationships, diets, and other aspects of their lives, but neglect the basic safety, privacy, and security of the idols.
Jungkook Promotes 'Seven'
"Seven" is the first single off Jungkook's upcoming debut studio album, and it has received widespread success.
According to reports, the song is now heading towards the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and follow the footsteps of another fellow BTS member Jimin's "Like Crazy."
Jungkook is no stranger to the Billboard Hot 100, and he is definitely used to having his song on the chart.
His collab song with Charlie Puth, "Left and Right" peaked at No. 22 while another song by the KPOP star, "Stay Alive" spoke at No. 95. "Seven" will be his first No. 1 hit though, if it beats Jason Aldean's song.
