Tori Kelly has been hospitalized and is receiving treatment for severe blood clotting. The timing is quite unfortunate, because she just announced that her newest EP is dropping. The fate of that EP is now up in the air, with the possibility of it being cancelled quite high.

Tori Kelly Hospitalized

This is because what happened to Kelly cannot be undermined. It's said to be very serious.

Sunday night, the 30-year-old Grammy winner was out to dinner with her friends in downtown Los Angeles when she fainted after complaining that her pulse was beating rapidly. She was then transferred to the ICU at Cedars-Sinai hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.

According to TMZ, doctors have detected blood clots in Kelly's lungs and legs and are examining her heart for clots.

This year, Kelly, who is managed by SB Projects, inked with Epic Records. In March, the singer-songwriter released her debut single with the label, "Missin U," along with a music video inspired by the year 2000.

The song, which incorporates Craig David's 2000 single "Fill Me In," marked Kelly's first new music since the releases of Inspired by True Events in 2019 and A Tori Kelly Christmas in 2020. In 2019, she earned the Grammy Award for best gospel album for her sophomore album Hiding Place and for best gospel performance/song for "Never Alone."

Kelly announced "Tori" on Instagram on July 11.

She also revealed the album's cover art, which depicts her in her new appearance posing near a white wall. Kelly gave up her characteristic honey-blonde curls for this era in favor of a dark brown hue.

Over a decade, her admirers had grown accustomed to seeing her in a particular manner. Tori has been a natural brunette since her 2010 debut. In May, Kelly discussed her transformation with Elite Daily.

"When I was in the studio, I was already starting to let my roots grow out. I was like, 'I'm over this. I don't wanna dye my hair anymore. I think it's just time for a change,'" she said. "It just made sense to not dye my hair. It just felt right. This look is both very natural and a progression of me figuring out what I love," she added.

It's really saddening if her new EP would be cancelled, when it is apparent that its meant to be pivotal and that she worked hard on it.

Kelly also revealed the tracklist for Tori on Instagram six days after it was first announced. Seven tracks make up the EP, which will be available on July 28 and includes her lead single "Missin' U." Kelly effortlessly reminds listeners on the song that her voice was made for an R&B-meets-pop collision.

The singer mentions a prior romance she would be open to giving another shot in the final seconds of the song. She emphasizes this truth with rich sprinkles of classic U.K. R&B (similar to Craig David's "Fill Me In"), and it's a catchy listen.
