Doja Cat is having beef with her own fandom, and it is not turning out well for her; she just lost almost 250,000 followers on Instagram.
According to reports, Doja Cat losing followers comes shortly after she dissed her own fans for calling themselves "Kittens," "My fans don't call themselves s**t!"
Ironically, it was the "Freaky Deaky" singer who named the fandom. Back in 2020, she held a poll, asking her fans what they should refer to themselves as, and "Kittens" won.
Doja Cat continued to berate her fans, telling them, "If you call yourself a 'kitten' or f**ing 'kittenz' that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house."
The effect was almost instantaneous. According to Pop Base, the singer lost more than 64,000 followers last Sunday, followed by an additional 153,749 followers on Monday.
Is Doja Cat Problematic?
This is not the first time Doja Cat has had run-ins with her fans, reports say. She has been surrounded in controversy after controversy for several months now.
First, it was her "demonic" tattoo. The singer's new ink features a creature that has the face of a mule, the body of a woman, and the limbs of a scaled creature.
In the beginning, her fans stood by her side and denounced the haters for bashing the singer's new tattoo, noting that it is not a devil, but just a creature inspired by a drawing from Fortunio Liceti's De Monstris.
"I love how y'all are all 'we want the old Doja, we want the REAL Doja'. This IS the real Doja. Y'all praise women for being what they want and doing what they want, but as soon as someone you look up to does just that, you freak [the f**k] out? LET HER LIVE HER LIFE."
"Why are there so many crazy people in these comments? The devil is not real. She did not 'sell her soul', you weirdos. The Illuminati isn't a thing," another added.
Next is her relationship with YouTuber J Cyrus. According to reports, Cyrus was accused of being racist and a sexual harasser.
Doja Cat 'Hates' Her Fans?
Doja Cat's fans stood by her side during these turbulent times, as well as all the times she claimed that her earlier music releases were "cash grabs," and her fans were "tricked" into buying "mediocre" music.
Fans are no longer having it, though. They are furious and done with Doja Cat. "When she apologizes for her behavior, no one needs to forgive her, she was serious about her tweets."
"I feel like she wanted this to happen idk."
"You reap what you sow."
