Nicholas Barker, popularly known for being a former drummer of some of the most iconic bands in the industry like Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Lock Up, Shining, and Brujeria, is currently suffering from a medical condition and it would be a big help if fans chip in on his fundraiser page.
According to Loudwire, the musician was diagnosed with kidney failure and a GoFundMe page has been set up for fans to help him with his financial needs as he couldn't work due to his health condition.
In the description on the fundraising page, Brandi Campanile, the one who launched the page, wrote that Barker is a phenomenal person, an amazing drummer, a loving father, and more.
"He has given us his entire life with music, on stage or in the studio. Giving us music that has us raging. His achievements are definitely awe inspiring," the caption reads.
Nicholas Barker Diagnosed With Kidney Failure
His health condition was also detailed in the description as it was noted that the drummer was hospitalized a few times in 2022 and most of the time, he was on tour when he suffered from a health problem.
"During these visits, it was discovered that he was losing kidney function. With determination, he tried to continue caring for himself while maintaining the tours and his musical career. His life has been dedicated to it along with his daughters. Both of which are his life blood," he added.
Today, he noted that Barker's kidneys are "in full failure" and he needed to undergo dialysis in order for him to recover.
Since he couldn't work given his situation, Campanile is asking the help of fans for financial help.
As of this writing, the GoFundMe page already amassed £34,534 out of their goal of £40,000. There have been over 1,100 people who donated money.
Nicholas Barker Gets Support From Friends and Fans
After the news made rounds online, Nicholas Barker got support from some of his friends in the music industry as well as his fans.
Exodus guitarist Gary Holt took to his official Instagram accounta to share a photo of the drummer in hospital. In the caption he wrote, "one of the best friends a person can have, is on need of help. Every little bit help"
Fans who donated through his GoFundMe page also shared support in the comment section.
