Just six weeks before her untimely passing, Sinead O'Connor shared a Hawaiian prayer for "suffering" with fans.
On June 6, the "Nothing Compares 2 U" star posted a video of ho'oponopono to Twitter - described as "the most powerful guided meditation for healing, forgiveness, and self-love."
In a heartfelt tweet, she quoted the prayer directly: "'To all who I have hurt in my lifetime and also to those who may have been hurt by me - with love from my heart.'" It was clear that the words were taken right out of it.
Expressing regret, apologizing, and showing gratitude - these are all key sentiments that the meditation speaks of in its line: "For everything, I do not like in my present life, I'm sorry. Forgive me."
On Wednesday, it was announced that Sinead O'Connor, a legendary Irish musician, has passed away at 56.
No cause for her death was given by her family in their statement.
"It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved Sinéad has left us," said her family.
This came a year after tragedy struck the family with the loss of their 17-year-old son Shane. The young man had taken his own life early this year following an escape from suicide watch where he was being treated at a hospital in Ireland.
In an unprecedented move, June 2022 will see all of the This Is a Day songstress performances canceled for reasons stated as being related to her "health and well-being." No further details were given on what exactly was at play.
Expressing their gratitude to Sinead's friends and fans, a statement was released that praised the compassion and understanding that had been offered.
"The outpouring of love has been an immense source of solace for Sinead," it said.
