The sudden news of Sinead O'Connor's death at age 56 sent shock waves throughout the music industry last week, including her much-publicized open letter to Miley Cyrus going viral.
The famed Irish singer-songwriter had a long and storied career, both musically and controversially - most notably with her spat against the "Party in the USA" hitmaker, 30.
Seven years ago, a disagreement broke out between Miley and Sinead due to Miley's claims that her music video for "Wrecking Ball" was influenced by Sinead's song "Nothing Compares 2 U."
Sinead was not happy with the reference or the video of the "Hannah Montana" star swinging naked on a wrecking ball, so she decided to write an open letter to the former Disney child star.
In it, Sinead explained the danger of overexposing oneself and being taken advantage of in Hollywood. She cautioned that "Nothing but harm will come in the long run from allowing yourself to be exploited."
Sinead decided to write her letter to post it on sineadoconnor.com. She began this heartfelt message with a "spirit of motherliness and with love."

Unfortunately, Miley's reaction to the warning letter was distasteful and insensitive.
In response to Sinead O'Connor's letter, the "Angels Like You" hitmaker decided to turn to social media and share the tweets of the latter whose goal was to identify a mental health clinic in Ireland during her difficulties with psychological and mental health concerns.
Taking to social media, Miley shared a screenshot of Sinead O'Connor's tweets with a caption that read, "Before Amanda Bynes... There was...," about a breakdown suffered by Amanda in 2013.
Back in 1992, during a "Saturday Night Live" episode, Sinead O'Connor took a stand against the Catholic Church's alleged sexual abuse cases by tearing a picture of Pope John Paul II.
But despite the ongoing feud between them, the "Jaded" singer chose to end it upon making an appearance on "The Today Show." During this interview, Miley acknowledged the dispute that had been taking place.
She said, "I don't know how someone can start a fight with somebody who said, 'Hey, I respect you. And I love what you did.' You know what? You suck! I don't like you! That was kind of crazy. But as I said, I'm a big fan of hers, so it doesn't matter. It's all good."
