Taylor Swift has dedicated over two of her albums to one man for the past couple of years, most notably "Reputation" and "Lover," however now that they have broken up, the songs might hold a different meaning.
Swift and Alwyn had been dating for more than six years when they suddenly broke up earlier this year, just as the "Anti-Hero" began her highly anticipated 'The Eras" tour.
Alwyn's absence from the opening night was instantly noted by fans, who began speculating that the former couple had broken up. Several weeks later, it was eventually confirmed through People Magazine.
Swift had been performing "Invisible String" as a part of her "Folklore" setlist, but after the news broke out, she switched it out for "The 1."
According to reports, fans theorize that "Invisible String" is about her ex-boyfriend, with one of the most prominent lines from the song being, "One single thread of gold tied me to you."
On the other hand, "The 1" tells the opposite message, with one of the most prominent lines being "It would've been fun, if you would've been the one."
Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn Breakup
One of the most notable things fans noticed during "The Eras" tour was Swift's alleged lack of emotions while singing the songs she had once dedicated to Alwyn.
Or her sassiness whenever she performs songs about him, like when she shakes her head while singing "Do the girls back home touch you like I do?" from her song "Delicate."
This is why fans were surprised when the singer performed "All Of The Girls You Loved Before," a previously unreleased vault song from her "Lover" album, which is also dedicated to the actor.
Swift sings about thanking all the women in Alwyn's life. She sings about her ex's past relationships being "dead-end streets" that led him to her.
While she was performing the song, though, she shook her head and winked as she sang the line: "Cryin' in the bathroom for some dude, whose name I cannot remember now."
Taylor Swift Fans Worry and Cheer
Following the performance, fans were divided on whether they should be glad or sad about it, after all, the man the song is dedicated to is long gone.
"No one is saying how she said in the chorus' "every dead in street, BROUGHT you straight to me" instead of "every dead in street, LED you straight to me," a fan pointed out.
"IM STILL MOURNING DONT DO THIS TO ME," another added.
No one knows if Swift is truly over her breakup with Alwyn, but one thing is for certain: her fans are not.
