Tony Bennett Final Words Before Death Revealed

At 96, Tony Bennett passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Although the reason for his actual death has not yet been specified or revealed, it has been attributed that it was related to his debilitating diagnosis.

Since then, fans have been curious about what Bennett was doing and what he said the day he had his last breath.

Speaking to Hoda Kotb on TODAY about her husband, Susan Benedetto shared Tony Bennett's final words before his death.

"That he loved me," she said to the outlet. "Yeah. He would wake up every day and still say that. He woke up happy every day. Even if he had had a bad day or night, he didn't remember it. That was the only blessing. He woke up happy. And he's just like, 'Susan. You're the best thing that ever happened to me.' And he would say that to me all the time."

Benedetto was accompanied by Bennett's eldest son, Danny, who is also the late jazz icon's manager.

Before tying the knot together in 2007, Bennett and Benedetto have been together for 20 years, as reported by Entertainment Tonight. The two had no children.

Notably, many have noticed the rather huge age gap between them. Bennett was 40 years older than Susan who was born on September 1966. Bennett was born in 1926.

In a revelation to People Magazine days after her husband's death, Susan shared with the publication her favorite photo of her late husband.

Taken during their honeymoon in 2007 in Villa San Michele, in Florence, Italy, Benedetto snapped the music icon looking at a picturesque Italian landscape out of the window wearing a blue tuxedo.

"Tony, naturally, loved visiting his ancestral homeland, and we spent many summers in Italy over the years, and it was always a special time for us to be together, just the two of us," she wrote about the picture. ​"Tony would paint all day, and then we would eat pasta, which was his favorite meal. I love how this photo captured his thoughtful demeanor....everyone knows Tony had heart, but he also was a wonderful soul."

Bennett was survived by Susan and his remaining four children.
