Claudette Dion, Celine Dion's sister, has provided an update on the "Power with Love" singer's health following her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome, which prompted her to cancel her world tour.

According to Claudette, Celine, 55, is being cared for by their sister Linda and working closely with researchers who specialize in the rare illness, as reported by Le Journal de Montreal (via SheMazing).

Unfortunately, she does not have good news. She clarified that the singer's medical team has not found a cure. Still, having hope is crucial.

Personally, the sister is optimistic that Celine Dion, having worked so hard for so many years, just needs to rest. She constantly goes above and above [while performing], and she strives to be the greatest and at the top of her game. She said that naturally, at some point, her heart and body are attempting to communicate with you. It is critical to pay attention to it.

The neurological condition stiff person syndrome causes uncontrollable muscle spasms. It affects only one in a million people.

Celine, on the other hand, has been "listening to the top researchers in the field of this rare disease as much as possible," and her family "trusts" that she will one day find a way of rehabilitation that would allow her to return to the stage.

Celine's fans were ecstatic when it was announced in May that she would be canceling her world tour owing to health issues. She had earlier postponed her scheduled gigs following the public disclosure of her diagnosis in December 2022. Celine said on Instagram that she will be unable to perform on her globe tour due to 'tremendous disappointment'.

Celine also released an image of the complete list of tour dates that had been canceled, which included gigs in France, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, and the United Kingdom.

Currently, the condition is treated with muscle relaxants and anti-convulsant medications, which can mitigate some of the condition's symptoms, as well as intravenous (IV) antibody treatments that attempt to reset the immune system so that it attacks fewer of the body's own cells. The monoclonal antibody medication rituximab (Rituxan), which is prescribed for the treatment of certain autoimmune diseases and malignancies, can also be of assistance.

While it is unclear what causes stiff person syndrome in people who do not have immune system diseases, one notion is that it is the immune system's very early response to cancer. Here's to praying for Dion's 100% recovery and the non-progression of her condition to something so much worse.
