TWICE is one of South Korea's beloved KPOP girl groups, they have been dubbed the "Nation's Girl Group," and at the forefront is the group's leader, Jihyo.
This is not the first time a TWICE member has had her solo debut. Last year, another member, Nayeon, dropped her solo debut "Im Nayeon," with the lead single "Pop!"
Now, it is Jihyo's turn with "Zone" and the lead single "Killin' Me Good," which will both be released on Aug. 18.
Who is TWICE'S Jihyo?
Jihyo debuted as the leader of the KPOP girl group TWICE, alongside other members, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
She is managed by her agency and label, JYP Entertainment, the same company that debuted another world-renowned girl group, Wonder Girls.
Jihyo has been dropping teaser after teaser in support of her upcoming album since July.
As of this writing, the KPOP star has released several different concept photos, videos, as well as the tracklist of the upcoming album.
In the coming days, Jihyo will continue to release several more teasers of the album, including a music video trailer, reports say.
Meet South Korea's Girl Group TWICE
Like another superstar KPOP girl group, BLACKPINK, TWICE is well-known and loved within the KPOP fan community.
Since their debut, they have enjoyed much success both as a group and as soloists.
However, they are yet to actually penetrate mainstream music in countries outside South Korea, but any KPOP fan knows the group's singles like "Fancy," "What Is Love?" "Likey," "Cheer Up," and more.
According to reports, despite not being as well known as other KPOP groups, TWICE is a giant in the genre by their own right.
In fact, the group just hit 500 million views in their "I Can't Stop Me" music video.
The song was released in October 2020, and is considered as one of the group's biggest releases.
TWICE is currently on a short break from their "Ready to Be" world tour. The group has held shows in several cities across the United States back in June, including Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Atlanta, and more.
They will be picking up the rest of the tour in September in Singapore, the United Kingdom, France, Berlin, and other European stops, possibly to give Jihyo time to promote her upcoming album, and for the members to rest.
