DJ Casper made a whopping amount of fortune following the release of his hit song, "Cha Cha Slide."

Willie "DJ Casper" Perry Jr.'s wife, Kim Perry, confirmed on Tuesday that the famous 2000 dance craze hitmaker died on Monday after his brave battle with two forms of cancer. Upon his death, he received heartfelt tributes and respect from fans whose family reunions and events became livelier because of his song.

DJ Casper's Net Worth

At the time of his death, DJ Casper's net worth reached $1.6 million mark, thanks to the influence he made through the "Cha Cha Slide" song.

The songwriter's earliest known work, "Out Champ," was released in 1999. He soon rose to fame when he dropped "Casper Slide Pt. 1," which has been famously known as "Cha Cha Slide," although he originally made it for his nephew, who worked at Bally's Total Fitness.

According to DJ Casper, the song was made as an aerobic dance, but it immediately became a worldwide hit that stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks. Its success continued for four years, dominating different charts, including the UK Singles Chart.

The involvement of M.O.B. Records put more spotlight on the song, leading DJ Casper to create a compilation album with the help of other Chicago-based artists. Universal Records soon recognized its success and picked up the song, which gave the late songwriter the Mr. C The Slide Man nickname.

Before his death, DJ Casper was still able to release the 2022 album, "I Love You," which he worked on amid his health battle.

DJ Casper's Cause of Death Explored

Casper's battle with cancer started in 2016 when his doctors detected two forms of the dreaded illness in his body.

"They diagnosed me in 2016 with two forms of cancer, which is renal and neuroendocrine, which is kidney and liver," he explained. "They went in to try to do surgery, and they found out the kidney was connected to the main artery, so they decided not to do it."

DJ Casper ended up receiving treatments instead in the years thereafter. Although his health condition affected him physically, he did not let it stop him from touring and making more music until his death.
