Russell Brand Reveals True Feelings About Katy Perry Marriage: 'Chaotic, Disconnected'

In a recent interview, Russell Brand, 48, admitted that he had trouble handling the spotlight while he was married to Katy Perry, 38, which also happened to be the time of his meteoric career.

Russell talked about being married to the pop diva and how he felt about their relationship being in the public light in the episode of "Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge" that aired on August 6. Some aspects of it were like amazing. She's an amazing person, and it was kind of incredible to live for a moment in that eye of the cyclone-type aspect of fame," he said.

"Aside from my sort of feelings of affection for Katy, it's a time that I remember being a little bit chaotic and a bit, for me, to speak for myself, a little disconnected," he added.

On the set of his movie Get Him to the Greek in 2009, Russell and Katy became friends and became engaged. They got hitched in 2010, but they later divorced. In 2012, their divorce became final. In a 2013 Vogue cover story, Katy disclosed that Russell notoriously texted her to inform her that he was going to file for divorce. Orlando Bloom and Katy started dating in 2016.

Daisy Dove, their 2-year-old daughter, is their only child. In a 2020 interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Katy talked about her short marriage to Russell. "I was having great success at 23, 24, and 25 and then I met someone that was interesting and stimulating. It was just like a tornado, it was everything happening at once," she said at the time. The Ignoring The Sarah Marshall star spoke out to Bear Grylls about his previous struggles with heroin addiction. The comedian claimed that it was the predominate and defining aspect of his life. Russell battled addiction from the age of 16 to 27.

He admitted that "particularly the last 5 years, I suppose, I was told if I didn't stop in the next 6 months I would be dead or in prison in an institution of some kind. I think I was a disconnected person."

Earlier this year, Orlando Bloom himself said that his relationship with Katy Perry is not a bed of roses.

Talking to Flaunt magazine, Orlando said, "We're in two very different pools."

He added, "Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands."

The actor also shared, "Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won't lie."

He also revealed that he and Katy often fight over their emotions and creativity.

From 2010 to 2013, Orlando Bloom was wed to model Miranda Kerr. Additionally, the ex-spouses have a 10-year-old child together named Flynn. In contrast, Bloom and Katy Perry got to know one another during a Golden Globes after-party in 2016. The two started dating that same year after hitting it off right away.

After dating for a year, they decided to break up, but eventually reconciled. In 2019, Katy and Orlando got engaged. On August 26, 200, the couple gave birth to their daughter Daisy Dove in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
