Ten years after Randy Travis faced a worrying health emergency, the country singer finally shared his status and what he currently feels.
Travis' resiliency was tested when he started getting several health diagnoses a decade ago. Ahead of a tribute concert for him, he and his wife appeared in an interview and gave an update about his health.
Randy Travis' Health Issues: Country Singer Shares Update
The upcoming "A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis" concert will pay homage to Travis, who has been one of the biggest country stars of all time.
Before the event, he and his wife Mary sat down for an interview with Fox News Digital and spoke up about his career and personal life.
The "Deeper Than the Holler" singer, who started having limited speech following his 2013 stroke that caused aphasia, said that it means a lot to him to see country stars coming together to honor his career.
Mary spoke for Travis in the interview and elaborated on the country star's delight over the tribute concert and how his music stands the test of time.
Per the wife, having tributes to the singer when he cannot sing his music anymore and hearing others perform his songs mean a lot, especially when they say his music changed their lives.
"And so to have a tribute, that just means you did something right," Mary continued. "Somewhere along the line, that made a difference. And we don't want to forget that."
The tribute concert for the "Forever and Ever, Amen" hitmaker will happen at Von Braun Center's Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama, on Oct. 24 at 7 PM.
The list of guests and performers has not been released yet, but the proceeds from the show would be given to the Randy Travis Foundation, which focuses on spreading stroke and aphasia awareness and provides music education in schools.
What Happened to Randy Travis?
Travis initially dealt with legal and addiction issues in 2012. However, he started having health issues the next year.
In July 2013, he faced life-threatening health emergencies, including heart failure and having fluid in his lungs. The medical conditions led to his admission to a Dallas hospital, where he flatlined and was put in a medically induced coma.
Travis was also put on life support until he was cleared to be brought out of the coma. But the "Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart" singer's doctors realized that he had suffered a stroke on top of other medical issues he was already facing.
In total, he underwent two brain surgeries and three tracheostomies. He also dealt with pneumonia and was intubated once.
