It has been claimed that Britney Spears's hit song "Don't Hang Up" was inspired by a brief romance with Colin Farrell.

Joshua Schwartz, the producer of the song, suggested that it details "Hollywood's bad boy" and the Pop Princess's intimate phone calls. This served as the basis for the track. He made the revelation, via "The Original Doll" podcast."

Joshua, producer and co-creator of Britney Spears' album "In The Zone," confessed, "That song was about phone sex."

Apparently, during this time the "Baby One More Time" hitmaker had gone through a dating spree involving the famous actor.

Joshua also provided some clarification to the situation, commenting that their romance was not of great importance for her.

He said, "I remember her mentioning being on the phone with him frequently which is likely where this all came from. It wasn't anything too serious."

Colin Farrell reportedly went on a single date with pop singer Britney Spears back when she was 21 and he was 26 in 2003.

Per reports, Colin said of the time that he was simply "single and having a good time".

Rumor is that Colin Farrell gave Britney a rather humorous gift in the form of a bumper sticker that proclaimed "Honk when you've slept with Colin Farrell."

Allegedly, the actor eventually owned up to his wild reputation in his younger years and attempted to apologize for any offense he might have committed, as reported by The Sun.

Though no one can confirm whether Colin presented Britney with the sticker, reports suggest that her upcoming memoir will tell the story of their intimate relationship.

According to the outlet's source, Britney Spears has completed her work for an upcoming memoir, "The Woman In Me," focusing on difficult emotions and troubles she faced during her life in the 2000s.

It was not easy for her to relive those moments through writing, they noted.

The source went on to give insight into the "Toxic" singer's escapades as a single woman, claiming that she is eager to share details of her experience with Colin Farrell.

During those vibrant days, it was reported that Britney had many other stories to tell of her adventures outside of the relationship.

The source continued, "She has wanted to tell her side of the story regarding her experience with Colin for some time. During that period in her life, he was a quite popular figure in Tinseltown, so it's understandable how she could have been taken by his charm."

The source revealed that the blonde bombshell had been relatively inexperienced when it came to romantic relationships, so it was a bit of a shock for her to encounter his distant and indifferent attitude. "She just wasn't expecting him to be so unbothered," they said.
