Following his slap on the wrist of a sentence stemming from a 2012 incident during which he allegedly gave a woman ecstasy without her consent, Cee-Lo Green still felt the need to defend himself to the public via Twitter.
Green pled no contest to accusations that he slipped the drug in her drink at a bar in Los Angeles. As reported by Complex, the woman says she woke up next to Green in bed, unsure of the previous night's events. Green's lawyer argued that the two had "consensual relations." No sex charges were filed due to a lack of evidence on the prosecutor's behalf.
The Goodie Mob singer was sentenced to three years probation and 45 days of community service but that wouldn't be it from Green. He still had a case to win with Twitter.
He responded to a few tweets and offered up some bizarre responses, which he promptly deleted soon after.
"If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously," Green tweeted.
He went on to question the validity of the accusations noting that there was metaphorical "no broken glass" to prove the charges. He added, "People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!"
Green then posed a question of his own for his Twitter hecklers, "So if I TRIED but did NOT succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened?"
Following the deletion of his bold and brazen tweets, he sent out a final message for those asking about the case. "I will not allow that negative energy to loiter on my time line," he said.
As previously reported, his no contest plea will reportedly allow Green "to maintain his innocence" but it will still equate to a felony. The charge is far less severe than the D.A.'s original filing for charges of furnishing the Schedule 1 substance.
