Judge of the competition series "America Idol" Katy Perry, received an outpouring of support from fellow judge Luke Bryan.
The pop star had been subject to a wave of criticism from viewers in response to the controversy surrounding her season 21 remarks.
In a recent conversation with People magazine, the 47-year-old country star revealed his experience working alongside Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on "American Idol."
Despite any criticism, however, he and his fellow judges accept everything with open arms.
This refers to Katy Perry's lack of success in discreetly delivering feedback to specific "American Idol" competitors.
The country superstar said, "If you'd have told me, I would have cried in front of millions of Americans ... I'm not there trying to put on this tough-country-guy act."
"I'm here to get involved in the emotion of the show. And sometimes what you're trying to say will not land perfectly."
Luke Bryan recently spoke up for fellow judge Katy, stating that at "American Idol," they always try to love and be compassionate.
As a CMT Award-winner, he suggested that those criticizing her were being unfair. "But for the most part," Bryan said, "me and Lionel and Katy are doing our best."
Katy Perry Returning To 'American Idol'
When it was revealed that Katy Perry would be returning to "American Idol," viewers of the show had an intense reaction.
Many expressed outrage and implored the star to resign from her role as a judge.
The "I Kissed A Girl" singer recently posted a fun-filled video on Instagram to commemorate her Las Vegas residency.
The short reel featured the pop star dressed to impress in an eye-catching red bodysuit with cutouts at the chest and a hat shaped like a mushroom.
During the clip, she could be seen performing energetically on stage and sharing brilliant selfies with those lucky enough to attend.
As Katy prepared to soar over a crowd while riding the SlotZilla zipline, she was seen wearing a harness during her rehearsal. Expressing her excitement for her upcoming Vegas performance, she wrote: "Zipping back to Vegas this weekend to play! We're counting down to the final flush!"
Many of the pop star's fans implored her to stay away from "American Idol" and focus on her career as a musician.
A comment read, "Don't return to American Idol, Mother."
Another echoed this sentiment saying, "We need new music! Not American Idol!"
There was overwhelming support for Katy continuing her singing career.
In an enthusiastic tweet, Katy also announced last July her return along with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. She added that host Ryan Seacrest will also be returning and urged those interested to audition immediately.
The response to the "Fireworks" diva's reappearance on the judging panel was primarily negative.
An individual took to Twitter and wrote: "No one's excited," while another person commented: "You can't find a single Katy Perry fan on this planet that wanted her to return."
