The 1975 is embroiled in problems following the controversial onstage kiss Matty Healy shared with bassist Ross MacDonald during the Good Vibes music festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
These days, though, it seems like the British frontman is not kissing the band's bassist onstage, and angering an entire country's LGBTQIA+ community, but rather, he has returned to hanging out with his ex-girlfriend Meredith Mickelson.
According to reports, the "About You" singer was spotted on a date with Mickelson going on a date in Los Angeles; they went to the celebrity-favorite Japanese restaurant Nobu Matsushisa and a movie theater.
Pictures of the pair's meeting were obtained by Backgrid and uploaded to Instagram earlier this week.
Matty Healy Swaps Taylor Swift For Ex?
Prior to being seen out and about Los Angeles with Mickelson, Healy was involved with Taylor Swift several months ago.
The pair dated in early March but broke up in June. Their relationship was met with much pushback and backlash from the "Anti-Hero" singer's fans as well as other netizens.
Mickelson allegedly told her friends, "I hope he treats her better than he treated me," when she found out about Healy and Swift dating.
According to reports, the timeline between The 1975 frontman's relationships with Mickelson and Swift is a little shady,
Some alleged that he ghosted the model shortly before going public with his relationship with Swift and that he had grown cold in the weeks leading up to it.
"Things were going well until around March 29 then, out of the blue, he stopped replying to messages and calls," a source said. "He just ghosted her and that was it. Then, four weeks later, he went public with Taylor."
Matty Healy Problematic?
Talk of Healy being problematic has been going around for years now. He has been accused of several things, like being racist and anti-semitic.
"We cancel him so frequently at this stage I feel like we don't give him time to grow and actually realize the implications of some of the things he's done," a netizen wrote about the singer's questionable behavior. "There's been so much over the years starting with the robber's kiss in the self-titled era I wouldn't know where to start."
Apparently, Healy is unbothered by all the criticisms thrown his way, and in fact, he seems amused by it all.
"I think there's three lines about being cancelled, and I've started thinking, 'F**k, I don't really care that much about the cancelling.' I'm not worried about that; it's just a funny thing."
