Dua Lipa has officially been in the music industry for eight years now, and it is marked by the release of her debut single, "New Love."

"8 Years ago I released my first song that I wrote with @wyattish [Andrew Wyatt] and @emilehaynie (and videos!)" the singer wrote on Instagram, with several clips from the music video. "19-year-old me would be very happy to know we'd get this far."

Lipa launched her wildly successful career with the song, which was included in the chart-topping tracklist of her self-titled debut album in 2017.

While "New Love" might not ring a bell for some of the singer's casual listeners, they might be more familiar with another single off the album, "New Rules."

This was the song that went viral and put Lipa on the map; "New Rules" was her first top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100, and it peaked at No. 6.

Dua Lipa Shows Love for Her Roots

When Lipa began her music career, she was young, and her music was met with great reception, in fact, there might not be any song that Lipa released that was not met with great reception.

"When I showed 'New Love' to people, they'd say, 'Oh, I didn't expect that,'" Lipa shared in an interview. "I loved that reaction, so I went with it."

"Dua Lipa" set the standard for what was to come, which is her highly anticipated, highly celebrated, and beloved sophomore album "Future Nostalgia."

"With every song, the momentum was building, but only tiny little bits," the "Levitating" singer said in another interview. "I was doing new things, I was learning what was expected of me, how to be in front of a camera, how to better the last performance."

Following the release of her debut album, Lipa won Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for "Electricity" during the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Meanwhile, "Future Nostalgia" would go on to score her Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Dua Lipa Gears Up For Another Era

The stakes are high once again for Lipa, whose first two albums earned multiple awards and boast chart-topping hits because she is once again back in the recording studio working on a new album.

According to reports, not a lot is known about Lipa's upcoming project. However, some insight from Mark Ronson might give fans an idea.

"I've heard some of it and it's incredible," Ronson said, then noted how Lipa will most definitely be shifting gears with the genre of her new album.

"I think that's why there's the disco ball that smashes in the video, right? This feels like her triumphant stomp on that era of her music into whatever she does next."
