A record that BTS has held on to for years was just broken by their very own Jungkook. He is now the KPOP idol who has spent the most weeks at No. 1 on the music charts.

According to reports, the singer's new song "Seven" spent five consecutive weeks on the Billboard Global 200 as well as the Global Exl. US charts, making him the first Korean artist to do so.

The record was previously held by BTS with their 2020 song "Dynamite," which spent four consecutive weeks on the music charts.

However, despite all the celebrations going on online, Jungkook is embroiled in some plagiarism drama.

Jungkook 'Seven' Plagiarized?

"Seven" is the first song the KPOP star has released as a bonafide solo artist, and it has received much success commercially.

It was written by Andrew Watt, Circkut, Joe Bellion, Latto, and Theron Makiel Thomas. According to reports, the song "borrows" its "scale sequence" from another KPOP act, Fin.K.L's "Time of Mask," a song released in 2000.

This is where the plagiarism allegations are rooted; the composer of "Time of Mask," Joon Young Yang requested for an evaluation of the two songs from Big Hit Music, Jungkook's label.

It seems like Big Hit Music refused to comply, which is why the composer has brought up claims of plagiarism.

Jungkook, Big Hit Music Clears Their Name

Since the allegations came out, Jungkook's label has vehemently denied that there was any infringement on the copyright of the song.

"The claims of copyright infringement regarding Jungkook's 'Seven' are not true," the statement read. "'Seven' is a song that was made through the collaboration of five foreign composers, and it is a creation that is completely unrelated to the song on a domestic album from 24 years ago like some are claiming."

It seems like the KPOP idol's label is alluding that the claims are brought on by the song having so much recognition and success not just in South Korea but internationally as well.

According to reports, "Seven" has over 400 million streams on Spotify, and was even crowned as the fastest song to reach these numbers.

As of this writing, Jungkook has not responded to the copyright infringement claims or reports.
