Melvins drummer Dale Crover will sit out of the band's schedules for emergency surgery.
The band delivered bad news to fans as it gears ahead of its upcoming tour. In a statement on Facebook, Melvins said its drummer would not partake in its shows.
Melvins Dale Crover To Miss Band's Shows
Crover will be taking a break to undergo an emergency spinal surgery and recuperate from it.
"We are sad to announce that literally days before leaving on tour, our drummer Dale Crover learned he needed immediate emergency spinal surgery, which will take him out of commission for months," the band said. "He's doing as well as can be expected considering the severity of the situation."
Melvins revealed that the 55-year-old musician is preparing for the procedure now, so they tapped former member Coady Willis to sit behind the kit for now.
The temporary drummer played for Melvins from 2006 to 2016, becoming part of the group's albums like "(A) Senile Animal," "Nude With Boots," "Chicken Switch," "The Bride Screamed Murder," "Everybody Loves Sausages," and "Basses Loaded."
The band took its time to ask fans for solidarity amid the urgent and dark time as the members want to focus on Crover's health and help him recover by doing everything on their end.
