Miley Cyrus recently shared her thoughts on her complicated relationship with her famous father, Billy Ray.
She revealed that having to live in the public eye impacted their dynamic, as she was treated differently than other family members.
Yesterday marked the birthday of Billy Ray, but it was also the day Miley released her latest single, "Used To Be Young."
Reflecting on this milestone, she commented how her dad had a completely different upbringing to her.
"I grew up on a sound stage in a house with a super close family, and all lived under the same roof. And I grew up financially stable and emotionally stable, I think, in my relationships also."
The former Disney child star further revealed her father did not have the same advantages she has today, and it's been enlightening for her to observe the effects of going from very little to having everything, adding, "It's a dangerous place."
In an interview for the TV special "Endless Summer Vacation Backyard Sessions," Miley touched on the differences between her and her father's views of fame and success.
She said her dad was more affected by being loved by a large crowd than she ever could be and concluded that their relationship towards fame and success is so different.
"When he feels special or important, it's like healing a childhood wound, and I've always been made to feel like a star. It makes me emotional. So, I think that's the difference."
As reported by The Sun, a family division occurred when Billy Ray and Miley's mum, Tish, divorced.
This split has impacted their family drastically, with Tish remarrying "Prison Break" actor Dominic Purcell on Saturday. Miley attended this wedding as maid of honor, and Brandi and Trace.
After a tumultuous period, Tish and Dominic tied the knot over the weekend.
Miley's Grammy-nominated siblings, Noah and Braison, were nowhere to be seen at the event. Noah and Brandi, decided to forgo attending the family wedding, opting instead to take pictures of them shopping together.
Noah wore a T-shirt with Billy Ray's face on it during their outing as a sign of where her loyalties lie, according to the source.
Though it's been a challenging experience for her, her mature attitude has come to the fore, the insider added.
"Not going to one's own mother's wedding could be seen as crazy, but being there for support is something that makes her proud."
